Hurricane Gustav

After thousands of people fled the city of News Orleans, Hurricane Gustav has now reached the coast of the USA.

Hurricane Katrina caused much damage only 3 years ago, therefore the thought of another hurricane hitting New Orleans caused much fear.

Hurricane Gustav hit the coast of Louisiana, bringing winds of upto 110mph. The storm missed the city of New Orleans, bringing much relief. Earlier the hurricane had caused much damage in the Caribbean, claiming the lives of more than 80 people.

As Liverpool continues as European Capital of Culture 2008, 120 SuperLambBananas have sprung up around the city and as far afield as Moel Famau and Euston Station, London. Although due to leave Liverpool at the end of August, the SuperLambBananas now have cult status around the city.

I feel that they offer a great way of getting children to engage with their urban environment. Searching for them with my kids certainly opened my eyes to the changes taking place within Liverpool and also the ‘rebranding’ of the city.

I also suppose this could fit in the ethos of the mission explore website?
